Maybe you and your friends had come across such situation that you lost the passport while you\'re having a trip oversea.
Without a passport, you can neither take a plane nor a train in China. Even if you just want to walk to HongKong from Shenzhen for distance like 500 meters, without a passport you\'re going nowhere.
Here are some tips I can give you, since I\'ve help my Swedish Friend getting out of such trouble situation. He\'s a buyer from a Swedish homeimprovement company, and came to Guangzhou for the Canton Fair in November 2013. His name is Thomas.
Thomas found his passport lost when he was walking in the exhibition of Canton Fair. He was very nevous at that time because he had a important meeting 2 days later in HongKong, and he knew a foreigner can go nowhere without a passport in China.
And there is no consulate of Sweden in Guangzhou, just in Beijing, Shanghai and HongKong.
1. Report to the Division of Exit and Entry Administration that your passport is gone. They will give you a \"certificate of losing passport\". To achieve such certificate, you need to provide the copy of your passport or your driving licence or your social security card (any thing with your picture and can prove your identity will help)
You also need to provide your \"staying evidence\" if you\'ve check-in any hotel to prove you have been to the city. You can simply ask the hotel you\'ve stayed to print out the record.
2. With the \"certificate of losing passport\", you can now travel by plane and train (OH THANKS GOD!)
3. Now go the nearest consulate to get a new passport.
4. Then drop by the nearest Division of Exit and Entry Administration again to get a visa. Alright! Home sweet home!
