I find some people coming to Canton Fair, trying to sell their products to China market through Canton Fair. This is very strange, yes, I agree that Canton Fair is the biggest Fair in China, but it's targeted at the overseas market, it has been run for dozens of years forbidding china citizens to attend, and even though it has the booths for overseas companies to show their products in recent two years, but the local businessmen would never go there to find their products, since it's not advertised locally. Canton Fair WAS and IS still forbidden to the local Chinese, unless they are buyers/agents of overseas companies or exhibitors.
In all, please do not waste your time or money over there trying to open the local markets, though many Chinese people are eager to become an agent/sales company for overseas brands.
Where should you go then? Go to the professional fairs!
In Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing..., there are various professional fairs, like Furniture/furnishing, Fashion, Shoes, Decoration materials, printing/ad, automobile, cosmetics and beauty, home appliances, etc. There are usually thousands of producers/dealers joining the fair, and the visitors are normally the powerful buyers from China.
Besides, these fairs are also the best place to source professional products.
